Leave the past in the past. Eliminate blame and excuses, for both yourself and others. Grab hold of the present and live in the moment knowing that you have the power to choose your path. When something goes wrong, take responsibility, identify the problem, and decide on a course of action to avoid its recurrence in the future. Do not make the mistake of leaving your destiny up to fate. Take action on the opportunities that present themselves in your life. or better yet, create your own opportunities!
Formulate a vision for your life.
What kind of person would you like to be? What kind of life would you like to lead? What kind of job fits into this vision? Create short term goals that can move you in the direction of your vision, or at the very least not away from it.
Don’t let fear of making a mistake keep you from moving forward.
Evaluate your options, make a decision, then take action. Should you stumble, pick yourself up and make a new decision… and learn from any missteps. Mistakes should merely be looked upon as opportunities for course corrections. Learn, adjust, move on.
Focus on your strengths.
You are unique and gifted with your own mix of talents, outlook and experience. Think about what comes naturally for you... these are your strengths. Build on them.Your strengths can be used as leverage to push yourself closer to making your vision into reality.
Treat yourself with kindness.
Perfection is an impossible pursuit. A life fully lived will certainly harbor a few mistakes. Mentor yourself as you would a close friend. Treat yourself with kindness
, love and respect. Make a point to speak only loving and encouraging words to yourself.
Live in the moment.
The present moment is alive, full of potential, and within your grasp. Learn to practice mindfulness: the ability to be fully present, aware of where you are and what you’re doing, and not overly reactive or overwhelmed by what’s going on around you. With mindfulness you neither dwell on the past nor worry about the future, but rather concentrate on the here and now.
Remember to not only live and love, but also laugh…often!
It is important to not take life, or yourself to seriously. Laughter can help to keep things fresh, fun, and lighten up otherwise tense or stressful situations. There are always challenges, obstacles and set-backs in life, but laughter and humor can help you cope, overcome, and refocus your energies in a positive direction. In fact, laughter
has been proven to reduce stress, anger, depression, and anxiety. It can improve circulatory & cardiovascular health, boost the immune system, improve digestion, alleviate pain, and relax muscles. As an added bonus, one good belly laugh can also burn off 3.5 calories
So remember…. you are special, you are unique, and you are just a decision away from beginning your path to becoming your true self! Dare to love your life!
